DAMON and BABY adds a free story expansion and a Switch 2 upgrade plan

DAMON and BABY’s free Rise of the Oracle story update will arrive on February 18, 2027, alongside physical PS5 and Switch editions. Arc System Works is also preparing a Switch 2 Edition, with a separate upgrade purchase for owners of the Switch digital version.

The publisher announcement explicitly distinguishes the free extra story from buying the hardware Upgrade Pack. It does not supply a price or release date for that pack, so the February story date should not automatically be applied to Switch 2 availability.

The new region introduces an exorcist and three treasures

Rise of the Oracle sends Damon through a mysterious door into Yomotsu-Hirasaka after an urgent request interrupts his family’s brief period of peace. The Japanese-inspired realm contains creatures drawn from folklore and barriers associated with Mars, Mercury and Jupiter.

Damon is joined by apprentice exorcist Yugeno Mikoto, also called Mei. Her mentor Izuna seeks three sacred treasures connected to escaping the realm, while servant Gedomaru exchanges useful items for MANA. The treasures include a mirror, sword and jewel, giving the journey specific objects to recover rather than only a succession of new fights.

The revised roadmap reduces what comes afterward

The announcement follows a November 4 roadmap update that puts version 3.00 in February 2027, with a new scenario, areas and bosses. Arc System Works also cancels the previously planned version 4.00, saying it will concentrate its resources on version 3.00 instead.

The publisher had already reopened the schedule in September, after version 3.00 missed its original summer window. The February date therefore resolves part of that uncertainty, but it does not restore the full earlier roadmap. Existing owners have a named story addition to expect and one fewer subsequent version in the announced plan.

Exploration and combat feed back into Damon’s build

The base game’s description divides progress between expeditions and a home base where Damon can be strengthened and supplies purchased. Exploring provides additional weapons, while bosses require attention to the mechanisms and layout of their arenas.

Players can adjust skills as they develop the character, combining shooting with close-range attacks. The central story keeps Damon tied to a mysterious child by a curse, making the pair’s relationship the reason for the journey as well as its visual identity.

A second local player controls the canine companion, collecting items and assisting in combat. This is the game’s offline cooperative mode; the new announcement does not introduce a separate online mode.

The physical Rise of the Oracle package combines the original adventure, extra story and quality-of-life improvements. Existing digital owners receive the story through the update, so buying another copy is unnecessary solely to access that chapter. The remaining purchasing decision concerns a preferred physical format or the separately priced Switch 2 upgrade, once its details are announced.
