Petit Planet is scheduled to launch on December 4 for PC, iOS and Android, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version planned for 2027. HoYoverse’s new life simulation game is free to download and centers on creating a personal planet, developing its environment and sharing activities with other players.
The Switch 2 announcement keeps the console version separate from December’s launch. PC access is planned through a standalone client and the Epic Games Store, alongside the mobile releases. The announcement does not narrow the Switch 2 window to a particular month or day.
From a seed to a home planet
Players become Planet Tenders, traveling with the Starsea spirit Oumuamua and planting a Luca Seed on their new world. As it grows into a Luca Arbor, the planet’s landscape, seasons and ecosystem develop around it. Mobai and Elsasani are among the first characters to introduce that world, with other Neighbors arriving over time.
HoYoverse’s Epic Games Store description fills in the everyday activities behind that premise. Players can change coastlines and skies, furnish a home, grow crops, fish, collect insects and experiment with recipes. Relationships with Neighbors develop through such activities as gifts, shared meals and helping with their needs.
Exploration extends beyond the home planet. Sailing through the Starsea leads to other locations and materials, while the Galactic Bazaar acts as a shared space for meeting players, trading and taking part in activities. The home-building and social elements consequently have different settings: a personal project can continue on the planet while the Bazaar provides a place to seek company.
The store labels the game as cross-platform and an MMO, and discloses in-game purchases including random items. The promise of more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items obtainable through normal play therefore should not be read as a claim that every item or system will be free. The final catalog and progression pace remain questions for the release build.
What the prelaunch planet event actually offers
The official Launch a Planet event notice runs from November 1 through November 30 at 23:59 UTC+8. Participants sign in with a HoYoverse account, use the event’s drawing tools and stickers, name their design and submit it for approval. Approved creations appear in the event’s Starsea.
Completing the design and associated tasks can earn Lucasprouts and other in-game rewards. The notice says distribution takes place in batches through in-game mail after launch. A submitted web drawing is therefore not the same thing as an immediately playable planet or an instant account reward.
A separate team preregistration promotion offers an exclusive clothing item when a player groups with two friends. The launch also begins a seasonal creation event. These provide activities before and around release, but the first opportunity for the general audience to develop its in-game planets remains December 4 on the announced PC and mobile platforms.
