Brigandine: Abyss has received its first update, and Happinet has outlined three more releases running through April 2027. The immediate patch changes several rules and controls; the larger additions, including Creative Mode and cross-class skills, remain future plans.
The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Its November 3 update notes say Story Mode now displays its clear conditions at the start, D-pad input has been adjusted, and Centaurs and Chirons no longer lose movement on forest terrain.
Another change affects the strategic map: after the CPU attacks a player-controlled base during an Invasion Phase, it will not attack that same base in the following season. That creates a specific one-season restriction on repeated pressure at one location, rather than preventing the opponent from invading altogether.
December and February target readability and planning
The published roadmap schedules update 2 for December. It will remove the evasion penalty that aquatic monsters, including Mermaids and Jörgoths, currently suffer on watery terrain. Equipment sorting, adjustable HP-gauge size and a minimap toggle are also planned, along with a broader range at which trees shrink to improve battlefield visibility.
February’s update 3 focuses on troop management. It is intended to add sorting and Recommended Formations to the Manage Troops screen. A displayed Combat Power value will provide another reference when deciding whether to invade, although the announcement does not describe it as a prediction that guarantees victory.
April is the larger rules expansion
Creative Mode is planned for update 4 in April. Happinet describes a mode with more varied starting balances between factions and freer unit management while pursuing continental conquest. Sub-class items will let units use skills from other classes, and separate difficulty settings will allow different parts of the challenge to be adjusted individually.
The same update is intended to add retreat behavior for CPU factions and revise battle AI. These features are on the roadmap; installing the first patch does not unlock them now.
The distinction between the modes is clearer in the base game’s overview. Story Mode follows six nations, while Mission Mode offers 24 nations with their own victory conditions. Organization phases are used to develop troops, and attacks on neighboring nations can secure resources or personnel. Battles take place on a hexagonal grid, where defeating an enemy leader can force a retreat.
Positioning already has further layers. The producer’s published explanations describe Rallying, where a leader gains a monster’s trait, and zones of control that restrict movement through adjacent tiles. An Ash Wolf’s Rally trait, for example, permits movement after an action. Against that background, terrain corrections and better army information have direct tactical relevance even before April’s larger additions arrive.
