Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure: Arcade has been announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam. Art of Play is developing a side-scrolling action adventure based on the original film, with a planned crowdfunding campaign but no confirmed game release date.

The distinction is important because the BackerKit pre-launch page displays February 2027. That date refers to the fundraising campaign. It does not establish that the finished game will be available to play in February.

A history assignment becomes an arcade adventure

The Steam description outlines 15 levels that follow Bill and Ted through time. Players can choose either character or join a friend in local couch co-op. The announced visual style uses hand-drawn pixel art inspired by 16-bit arcade games, paired with an ’80s rock soundtrack.

Historical figures include Billy the Kid, Socrates, Napoleon, Beethoven and Genghis Khan. Rather than serving only as background cameos, they appear in individual mini-games through which the protagonists try to win their help for the history report. Story Mode is also intended to unlock Arcade Mode, mini-games and further extras.

This is a new adaptation of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, not an announcement that the older licensed games are being reissued. The description builds its levels and encounters around the movie’s time-travel journey, while the campaign page says the game will add new twists and mechanics.

The actors’ voices are part of the plan

The campaign announcement says the game features the voices of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as Ted and Bill. It does not explain whether all dialogue is newly recorded or how much material each actor contributes, so the voice confirmation should not be expanded into those more specific claims.

Art of Play Interactive and Roditeli Productions are working with Infame MKT and Creative Licensing Corporation on the project. The campaign plans to offer digital and physical game copies alongside merchandise and apparel. Those are intended crowdfunding rewards; prices, delivery estimates and final platform-specific packages have not yet been published on the pre-launch page.

What the announcement establishes

The current information gives the project a reasonably clear shape: a 15-level, side-scrolling adaptation with two playable leads, local cooperation and encounters with the film’s historical cast. It does not yet give a release calendar, online co-op specification or final retail edition list.

For people interested in the game rather than its merchandise, the next concrete milestone is the campaign’s opening and the development information it provides. Until then, the announced level count and modes are the developer’s intended design, rather than evidence that a finished build or a delivery date has already been secured.
