POPUCOM will launch on PS5 on November 17, publishers GRYPHLINE and Fireshine Games have announced. Hypergryph’s cooperative puzzle platformer first reached PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 1, 2025, followed by Nintendo Switch on December 4 that year.
The new date applies to PS5. Earlier promotional material also mentioned PS4, but the November release announcement does not supply a new PS4 date. It should not be treated as confirmation that both PlayStation versions are launching together.
Two-player story, larger-party challenges
POPUCOM’s original publisher briefing makes a useful distinction between its modes. Story Mode is designed for two players, while Party Mode supports three or four. Both were introduced with local and online cooperative play.
That matters when choosing a group: the game’s general multiplayer description does not mean four people can join every story stage. Cooperation is central to its design, with players solving obstacles together rather than simply competing for a higher score on the same map.
The adventure begins with characters summoned to another planet. Their goal is to remove threats and help restore that world. Its official overview makes color an active rule: players change colors to operate mechanisms, while shots of Pomu gel affect enemies and the environment through matching mechanics.
Progress also introduces special artifacts. Rollo the Bomb, Captain Kitty, Barrier Bot and Power Kid are named examples, each supplying an ability that can help overcome an obstacle or solve a puzzle. The variety comes from combining those tools with movement and color rules, rather than treating every encounter as a conventional shooting challenge.
Color settings and activities between stages
Because color carries mechanical information, the publisher includes a colorblind-assistance mode with customizable schemes and a separate color-enhancement option for characters and map objects. These settings are particularly relevant to this game’s puzzle language, where a difficult-to-distinguish color can also mean a difficult-to-read instruction.
The Closet offers cosmetics that can be mixed into different appearances. An in-game arcade provides smaller activities between the main stages, giving the cooperative structure something beyond the central campaign.
The PC game has continued to develop
The May 28 version 1.2.0 notes added the Fallen Laputa story stage and two arcade games, Jump ’n Shoot and POPUU-3. The first unlocks after clearing the Inner Ring stages; the second requires completing Fallen Laputa.
That PC update also introduced confirmation from the second player before an online story stage begins, and fixed crashes associated with changing outfits. It documents how the existing game has evolved, but the PS5 announcement does not publish a patch-by-patch content comparison. Cross-platform multiplayer, transferred PC saves and identical technical settings should not be assumed solely from the new platform date.
