RoadCraft’s Foundations Expansion is out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, adding two four-square-kilometer maps and construction work focused on preparing entirely new structures. It is the game’s third major DLC and requires the base game.
There is an important ownership distinction: the update 8.0 notes explicitly say Foundations is not included in the Year 1 Pass. The new regions and machinery belong to the paid expansion, while the accompanying update also contains general fixes and interface improvements.
Concrete work adds another logistics chain
The new pile-driving system involves producing concrete piles, transporting them to a site and installing them to support future construction. Concrete foundation laying uses another combination of equipment: a mixer supplies the material and a pumper places it into the prepared foundation.
That expands the game’s sequence of tasks beyond moving debris and restoring roads. A site now needs the correct material and the appropriate machine for each stage. Getting a truck to the location is only part of the job; producing, delivering and applying its load are separate parts of the construction process.
The launch announcement names four specialized additions: the ALCES PL30C pile driver, Voltrack Mk11 concrete pumper, Voltrack MX mixer and EPEC MAG240 magnetic crane. The crane can handle several pieces of metal debris or recyclable material together.
Three further vehicle variants bring the total to seven: the Derry Longhorn 4520 heavy hauler with a wider trailer, the Isonzo M1 service vehicle and the Aramatsu R1 asphalt roller. The service vehicle supplies field support for resources, cargo and recovery, while the other machines address transport and surface finishing.
Two settings for the new equipment
Spring Renewal is set in a Dutch-inspired agricultural area damaged by a major storm after a long period of decline. Rebuilding roads, bridges and industrial facilities contributes to the region’s development as a green-energy hub. Windmills and flower fields give the construction work a different setting from the second map.
Oasis Delta moves to North Africa, with desert terrain, waterways and a former trading and agricultural center damaged by a tornado. Its jobs reconnect isolated sites and restore ports and infrastructure. The patch overview also identifies work around a large satellite dish and archaeological areas.
Update 8.0 changes the surrounding experience
The update adds a minimal interface option, new controller layout choices and revised winch inputs. Tutorials explain the pile driver, concrete pumper and magnetic crane, while new Codex entries cover expansion features. A Pile Amount difficulty setting gives players another parameter for construction tasks.
Fixes include demolished buildings failing to retain their state after restarting, texture-streaming problems with DLSS and phantom bridges obstructing sand placement during roadworks. Road-planning and AI-route behavior also receive improvements. These are specific corrections in the patch notes, rather than a guarantee that every vehicle or route will now behave perfectly under all conditions.
