Total War: Warhammer III patch 9.0.5 revises campaign victory rewards and objectives, giving several factions more useful milestones on the way to a longer conquest. Creative Assembly released the update on November 3, alongside further endgame adjustments and fixes.

In the new patch notes, unique Lords and Heroes awarded through victory conditions now arrive at rank 20 with rare equipment and a special trait. This applies to reward characters, not every newly recruited or starting Legendary Lord.

Markus Wulfhart’s short victory now supplies two each of Helstorm Rocket Batteries, Steam Tanks and Demigryph Knights. His long-victory reward changes from units to Lord and Hero recruit rank. Morathi’s objective switches from leveling Supreme Sorceress Lords to Sorceress Heroes; long victory requires four at rank 20 instead of five at rank 15.

Rewards are intended to help the next stage of a campaign

Those changes follow the direction set out in Creative Assembly’s earlier victory-condition overhaul. The studio wanted objectives to reflect the motivations and particular mechanics of each faction more consistently, rather than relying as heavily on interchangeable conquest targets.

It described short-victory rewards as a combination of a culture-wide benefit and something specific to the chosen Legendary Lord. Longer victories would generally provide broader benefits. The intended sequence was for a short-victory reward to help achieve a long victory, and for the latter to support a subsequent Domination victory.

That design treats a victory notification as an intermediate point in an ongoing campaign. A reinforcement, character or recruitment benefit has a purpose after the objective is complete. The question is therefore both whether an objective fits the faction and whether its reward arrives in a useful form for the next phase.

October’s patch set up this pass

The 9.0.4 notes had already identified victory objectives as a focus for the following update. That October patch concentrated particularly on Nagash, correcting Black Pyramid searches and unlocks, recruitment behavior and campaign information.

One change made the search match units within sets, while another clarified that battles outside the Land of the Dead would not grant Necromantic Energy. These earlier fixes addressed how a faction communicates its rules; 9.0.5 continues the broader work on progression and rewards.

A separate difficulty option covers the endgame

Version 9.0.5 adds an Endgame Difficulty: Legendary checkbox when starting a new campaign. It also fixes endgame wars disrupting narrative-linked factions in ways that could prevent a long victory.

The earlier overhaul separated the older Crisis Scenarios from three larger endgame narratives: Chaos Invasion, Vermintide and Nagash Rises. Their structure includes an escalating threat and a climactic confrontation, rather than only spawning additional armies. That background explains why the new difficulty control belongs to campaign setup: it changes the challenge that eventually tests the empire built through those shorter victories.
