The Legend of Khiimori’s Mongolian Expanse update opens more of the Snowy Mountains and Desert, expanding the Early Access courier adventure on November 4. The new territory brings additional routes, wildlife and horse abilities, with more of the planned map expansion still to come.
Mindscape and Aesir Interactive’s release announcement confirms availability on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The setting remains 13th-century Mongolia, where delivering cargo depends on the rider’s route and the capabilities of the horse carrying it.
New terrain makes breeding and travel overlap
The added areas contain waystations, Yam nodes, named locations and caches. Wild boars, gobi bears and camels extend the wildlife roster, while the Marwari becomes the sixth horse breed. More than 60 additional skills include rare and Legendary abilities associated with particular regions or breeds, which can be passed to foals.
That creates a reason to explore beyond simply reaching a delivery marker. A detour can help a player find breeding stock for a later journey. A horse suited to the current route and one carrying a valuable inherited skill need not serve exactly the same purpose.
The full update notes describe the Marwari as an endurance-oriented breed with particular resistance to heat, available in the wild or from the horse merchant. The same notes warn that existing horses may acquire different skills after loading older saves because the skill system has changed.
Inspect a returning horse before the next trip
The Horse Overview’s rebuilt Abilities & Stats screen separates the contributions of training, skills, items and debuffs to attributes such as speed, stamina and turning. Core statistics have also been rebalanced. Reading that screen is consequently more useful than assuming a familiar horse will perform exactly as it did before the update.
For example, a lower displayed attribute can have different explanations: an active penalty, different inherited skills or the broader rebalance. The revised display gives the player a way to distinguish those causes before making a breeding or equipment decision.
Other practical changes include more forgiving fishing timing, extra retries with better rods and the game pausing on the new-foal screen. Corruption is now called the Curse in menus and dialogue. That naming change helps explain why an older guide or remembered objective may use a term that no longer appears in the interface.
The larger map still supports different difficulty settings
The developers’ pre-release diary also revisits options introduced earlier in development. Peaceful mode removes combat and the Curse. Explorer, Courier and Survivor presets offer different emphases, while Custom settings let players adjust survival, predators, resources, cargo and the Curse individually.
Those options are background to the new regions, not new difficulty modes added on November 4. A player primarily interested in horses and scenery can use a different preset from someone seeking demanding deliveries and supply management.
The Expanse release is the first part of this stretch-goal expansion, not the game’s full release. The present update can therefore be judged by its accessible regions and changed horse systems while the remainder of the map continues through development.
