Amanita Design and Rusty Lake are bringing more than 35 adventure games into the first Point-and-Click Showcase, pairing a November 4 broadcast with a Steam promotion running through November 9. The announced program includes new reveals, release dates and demos, giving smaller narrative games a dedicated place to be discovered.
The broadcast was scheduled for 9 a.m. Pacific, noon Eastern and 6 p.m. Central European time, on YouTube and Steam. The sale lasts beyond that presentation, so watching the stream and browsing the participating games are separate parts of the event.
An adventure-game label with several different meanings
The Steam event page brings together games with very different approaches to observation, dialogue and puzzles. The announced promotion includes The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow, Heaven’s Vault, Dropsy, Stories Untold and The Longing. Their presence should not be taken to mean that each is a new announcement or follows the same design.
The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow is a useful example of the more traditional end of that range. Wadjet Eye’s game description follows antiquarian Thomasina Bateman to the remote village of Bewlay, where an invitation to investigate a burial mound becomes increasingly troubling. The person who contacted her is missing, access is obstructed, and the village’s people have their own motives.
Its folk-horror setting is organized around conversations, investigation and point-and-click interactions. A reader looking for that sort of adventure is evaluating a different experience from a reflex-driven horror game, even if both are marketed around fear. The event’s focused selection makes such distinctions easier to see than a general list of new releases.
Language can be the puzzle itself
Heaven’s Vault takes another route. Inkle’s official overview describes archaeologist Aliya Elasra and her robot companion Six exploring the Nebula while searching for a missing roboticist. Translating an ancient written language is a central activity, and an incorrect interpretation can affect the direction of the investigation.
That makes the player’s understanding of the world part of progression. The puzzle is not only whether an object fits a particular lock, but whether the evidence supports a reading of a civilization’s past. Its navigable ruins and space-river journeys provide a different setting for the same broader appeal of looking closely and drawing connections.
These examples explain why the showcase covers ghost stories, murder mysteries and quieter puzzle adventures rather than treating tone as a requirement. A player interested in dialogue-heavy investigation may find relevant games across several visual styles and levels of intensity.
Follow the playable announcements separately
For viewers following up on the presentation, demos are the most direct way to examine a game’s interaction style. A demo, a wishlist page and a confirmed release date each answer a different question: what can be tried, what is being tracked, and when a finished release is expected.
The November 9 promotion deadline applies to the event, not to every game’s availability. Individual discounts, supported operating systems and demo access are listed per title. The continuing storefront event gives players time to make those comparisons after the broadcast rather than treating every trailer as an immediate purchase decision.
