Soulframe’s Open Preludes milestone is scheduled for November 6, ending the invitation requirement for its PC test. Digital Extremes says new players will be able to register on the game’s website, download its launcher and enter Midrath without waiting to be selected.

This is an expansion of access to the developing game, not an announcement that Soulframe is finished. Preludes remains the name of its test period. The studio’s access announcement describes the change as a way to bring more players into the feedback process after sixteen updates.

Open access and Preludes 17 are separate milestones

The next large content update, Preludes 17, is planned to restructure early and middle progression. Digital Extremes’ Devstream 18 overview gives November 6 for Open Preludes but describes Preludes 17 as arriving as soon as possible. Those statements do not establish that every announced feature launches with the opening of access.

The update centers on regions damaged by Ode’n corruption. Envoys work with the Enclave to dismantle siphons draining those areas, restoring resources and activities as they progress. Exploration remains possible, but recovery of the land supplies a clearer sequence of objectives.

That gives environmental restoration a practical role in progression. Recovering a region can bring back fish, natural materials and other features instead of merely changing the scenery. A newcomer’s route through Midrath is intended to explain how those activities connect to the wider conflict.

Votives become less linear

Votives are being revised around a primary objective and optional nearby Oaths, with a scoring system reflecting how thoroughly a player completes the activity. They will no longer be accessed through World Trees. The Enclaves are also becoming available after The Torment Stag without a Sacred Shimmer requirement, although their entrance puzzles remain.

The distinction between a main objective and optional tasks should give a player more control over how much to attempt in one visit. That is the design implication of the structure; the announcement does not provide a measured change in session length or difficulty.

The overhaul also introduces Infamy. After a region is redeemed, further action against Ode infrastructure can provoke reinforcements, with stronger opposition tied to greater experience rewards. Restoring an area therefore does not simply remove combat from it; it can change how the occupation responds to the player.

A growing companion can become a mount

The stream also previews the Ode Shrike Pact, which uses traps and chains, and the ability to mature a trained Wolfpup into an Omen Wolf mount. The latter requires a special biscuit earned through clearing the Veilands, linking the companion’s growth to the regional progression system.

Digital Extremes has already used earlier Preludes releases to add story quests, Pacts, weapons and environments, as its Preludes 14 announcement illustrates. Preludes 17 is a broader structural step within that continuing process. New PC players can use Open Preludes to begin the current build, while the announced regional overhaul remains the next distinct update to watch for.
